An oil rig exploded near Lake Pontchartrain while due to which seven persons have injured, Kenner Deputy Chief Administrative Officer said that 8th person is still missing and the explosion took place on Sunday evening near north Kenner and St. Charles Parish.
The more damage can be there as the oil rig exploded which has wounded seven people while the officials requested to residents to maintain a distance from the affected place while at about 10:15 p.m.
The rescue operations were on continue and Kenner Boat Launch has sent the boats to the explosion place for to save the lives of other people.
The director of East Jefferson Emergency Medical Services, Mike Guillot said that two of the injured people have transferred to East Jefferson General Hospital while the other five who had received injures have sent to University Medical Center.
According to officials that five wounded persons are in critical situation as they received burn injuries and the other two are out of danger who were admitted in General Hospital.
The oil reserve was located at a platform which is owned by Clovelly Oil Co. in unincorporated Jefferson Parish.
According to the Fire Department Chief David Tibbets that the platform is used for the transformer of oil as well as for the production but now the motive of the company is to stop the flow of oil because this can create severe condition and the rescue forces are doing their operation.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joe Lopinto said on Sunday that it is not confirmed that what was the reason of explosion?.
While on the other hand Kenner Government stated on Facebook that the fire was due to the material cleaning on the oil rig and to know the reasons, the investigation is in process.
